Sri Nithyakalyana Perumal Temple /ஸ்ரீ நித்யகல்யாண பெருமாள் கோவில், Thiruvidandai / திருவிடந்தை, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu

This is the 62nd temple of 108 Divya Desam Vishnu Temples  and 22nd Divya Desam in Thondai Nadu.  Mangalasasanam was done by Thirumangai Alwar one of the 12 Alwars.

Moolavar    : Sri Adi Varaha Perumal – in the form of wild boar.
Thayar       : Sri Komalavalli Nachiyar

Some of the important features of this temple are...
The Anjaneyar Temple after the Temple tank. There is a 16 Pillar mandapam in front of the temple and there is the temple tank is  on the road side. After 16 pillar mandapam the entrance arch or Mottai Gopuram. Dwajasthambam, Balipeedam, Garuda thoon / Vilakku thoon, 4 pillar mandapam on the left are after the entrance. There is mandapam on the right. Moolavar in the form of Varaham sitting on Adisheshan and holding his concert on the right thigh. 

In the inner prakaram temple for Thayar and shops are in a Andal Shrine mandapam on the right side.

The sanctum sanctorum has sanctum, antarala, aratha mandapam and a maha mandapam. In the maha mandapam Urchavar. Periya Thiruvadi is opposite to moolavar  at the entrance of mandapam.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTION:
As per the inscriptions ( SII Volume II, Sl No 185 ), this place was in Amurkottam , Paduvur nattu Thiruvidanthai. 

Since Thirumangai Alwar had done the mangalasasanam and believed to be lived in 8th Century, so the temple might have been built 8th to 9th Century during Pallava’s period with latter Chozhas and Vijayanagaras contributions. The Chozha King Rajaraja-I, ( 985 - 1014 CE ), 8th Year rule inscriptions starts with his Meikeerthi "திருமகள் போல... ".   

Parthivendravarman's 8th reign year inscription ( SII Volume -III, Sl no  185 ) records the endowment of burning a perpetual lamp at Varahadeva Shrine at Thiruvidandai by a native Anikizhanen Namban Manjan alias Ukavari Perarayan of Talaisayanapuram alias Taiyyur.  For the same 93 Saava moova peradu / Goat / sheep  was gifted to the temple. these 93 Sava moova peradus are received by the Thiruvidanthai Manradi Kadanadan and agreed to supply one ulakku Ghee to the temple.

The temple is kept open between 06.00 Hrs to 12.00 Hrs and 15.00 Hrs to 20.00 Hrs.

The temple is 38 KM from Chennai and 16 KM from Mahabalipuram on the East coast Road.
The Mahapalipuram buses stops at Thiruvidanthai.
