The temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram with a 1921 CE inscription on the top of the entrance lintel. The Balipeedam, Dwajasthamabm and Simha vahana and Pavadai rayar are under the mukha mandapa. The dwajasthambam is protruding through the mukha mandapam ceiling. The sanctum sanctorum is on a elevated level of about 3 feet. The Eellai amman is in sitting posture under the snake hood. A Head size Amman is under the feet of Moolavar. 3 forms of images of Amman is in the Koshtam.
In praharam Vinayagar, Navagrahas, Shaniswaran, Thiruvalluvar, Nagakanni Amman, Nandanar, Kashi Viswanathar and Visalakshi, Chandikeswari, Stucco Amman Statue, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniyar.
ARCHITECTURE
The front open mukha mandapam is with raised pillars with vettu pothyal. The bas reliefs of Naga Devathai are on the base of the pillar. The Dwajasthambam is protruding through the ceiling of the mukha mandapam.
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam and a open mukha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is rectangular in shape on a upana. A 3 tier Salakara vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. The prastaram is with valapi and kapotam with nasi kudus. Stucco images of Amman’s various forms are on the Vimana Tala koshtams and greeva koshtams. Vimanam Maha nasis has the images of Maha Lakshmi on one side and Saraswati on the other side.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The 1921 CE inscription on the Rajagopuram lintel reads as..As per the inscription with the effort of Trustees ( names ) Vinayagar Sannidhi, Sri Palani Andavar Sannidhi, Navagraha Sannidhi and outer paraharan were constructed.

சென்னை பெரியமெட்டில் வசிக்கும் இதனடியிற்கண்ட எங்களுடைய பரம்பரையின் குடித்தினர்களின் சுவாதீனதிலடங்கிய ஸ்ரீ அகிலாண்ட கோட்டீஸ்வரி எல்லம்மன் தேவஸ்தானத்தின் தர்மகர்த்தாக்களாகிய கி செ சாரங்கபாணி பிள்ளை, வீ துரைசாமி பிள்ளை, ஐ. வடிவேலுபிள்ளையாகிய இவர்களின் நன்முயற்ச்சியால் ஷ தேவஸ்தானத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஸ்ரீ விநாயகர் ஆலயம், ஸ்ரீபழனி ஆன்டவர் ஆலயம், ஸ்ரீ நவக்கிரக ஆலயம், வெளி மண்டபம் ஷை கட்டடங்கள் யாவும் கட்டப்பட்டது. இப்படிக்கு ஷை தேவஸ்தான கமிட்டி மெம்பர்கள் து. தம்புசாமி பிள்ளை, ப. பொ. ஆண்டியப்ப பிள்ளை வி கோ நலிகணாடம் பண்டித ந ம மோஹன்தாஸ்பிள்ளை, ர சுப்பிரமணியம் பிள்ளை, தே. நயினியப்ப பிள்ளை, மு ரகுபதி பிள்ளை, கு பொன்னுசாமி பிள்ளை, சி. சுபராயலு பிள்ளை, ரா. ராஜகோபாலபிள்ளை, தி ஆறுமுகம் பிள்ளை.
In construction of Saniswarar Sannidhi, 4 Muslim personnel also contributed, whose names are engraved on the inscription tablet.

The 1948 inscription records the maintenance of the temple and construction of building like asthana mandapam renovation etc,.
Another 11th Feb 1934, inscription records the renovation / construction of Shops in the market area, expansion of Vegetable shops / market, creation of Bombay toilet, vehicle for transport deceased to cremation ground, compound wall litigation was solved through Court, etc.
Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 04th March 1983.

This Ellai Amman is a Grama Devathai/ Village deity, who protects the Village Periyamet from evil forces.
