SRI KAILASANATHAR TEMPLE, BETWEEN AGARAMEL AND MEPPUR VILLAGE, POONAMALLEE, CHENNAI, TAMIL NADU.

21st April 2019.
This temple visit is one of the 4 temples planned on 21st April 2019. During my earlier Visit this temple was found closed. Since the planned temples are in the close proximity  to each other shuttled between the temples. Finally around 11.00 hrs the temple was found kept opened.

Iraivan      : Sri Kailasanathar
Iraivi         : Sri Parvathi.

Some of the salient features of this temple are…
The temple is facing east with a mottai Rajagopuram. Stucco images on the mottai Gopuram.  A small deepa sthambam, Palipedam and Rishabam are  immediately after the entrance.

The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum, antarala and arthamandappam. Ambal sannadhi is abutting the arthamandapam. The complete sanctum sanctorum was built with brick. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dhakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai. There is no vimana on the sanctum.

In the prakaram sannadhi for Nagar, Hanuman, Loose Sculptures with a Shiva linga, Bairavar, Navagrahas, Chandran and Suryan.

The temple was not very old as expected.  A 4 Pillar mandapam form the arthamandapam. The pillars has the Nayak period donors reliefs. Hence we may conclude that this temple may be existed before Nayak Period and may be 300 to 400 years old.

TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The opening of the temple is un predicted and a Vishnu Archakar is doing pooja. May be kept opened for about 1 hour between 07.00 hrs to 10.30 hrs.
