The visit to this Archaeological Museum at Pattadakal was a part of “Hampi, Badami, Pattadakal, Mahakuta and Aihole temples Heritage visit” organized by வரலாறு விரும்பிகள் சங்கம் Varalaru Virumbigal Sangam – VVS and எண்திசை வரலாற்று மரபுநடைக்குழு, between 24th December to 28th December 2022. I extended my sincere thanks to the organizers Mrs Radha and Mrs Nithya Senthil Kumar and Mr Senthil Kumar.
Site Museum
In front of the Galaganatha and Sangamesvara temples, in the lower terrace of the river bank is located the Site Museum. In it are exhibited largely sculptural and architectural stone members that are collected from different parts of the locality over a period of time and in the course of the large scale clearance work as a part of the conservation work to the temples. Most of them belong to the temples nearby.
Some of the large panels displayed are Andhakasurari Siva, Tripurari Siva, Tirthankara in round relief and a few more of superb workmanship. The Tirthankara is from the brick temple near the Jaina stone temple. A visit to the Museum will provide a supplementary insight into the magnificent temples of Pattadakal.
HERO STONES - வீரகற்கள்
All the Hero stones are sculpted out of sand stone. The hero stones are damaged and withered due to age. These hero stones are erected to the Heroes who are killed in the war. The hero stones might have been brought from elsewhere to this common place considering safety.

HOW TO REACH
Pattadakal Group of temples are 13 KM from Aihole, 17 KM from Badami and 459 KM from Bengaluru.
Nearest Railway Station is Badami.
