The Visit to this Ponmar Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi was a part of Thaiyur’s Shiva Temples and Amman Temple’s Visit scheduled on 21st July 2021. After Thaiyur on the way to Velachery, happened to a sign board of Ponmar Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi, just after Sri Sakthipureeswarar Temple on Malaistreet of Ponmar. More than 3 times visited this Shiva temple and I didn’t know that there is a Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi, just back side of the Shiva temple. Also I didn’t aware the purpose of a lone Shiva Linga installed in the same premises of the Shiva temple.
The Ponmar Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi Temple consists of inner sanctum Sanctorum and a mandapam. The Jeeva Samadhi Temple was built with stone. The walls are with two layers of stones. Since the Jeeva Samadhi temple was kept closed for long period, lot of trees were grown, which destroyed the outer layer of the wall and the Jeeva Samadhi Temple bears a dilapidated look.
A Square Avudayar with a shallow hole ( குழி- பள்ளம் ) is at the centre & a Komukha, is installed in the sanctum Sanctorum. A Mahameru was installed during recent years.
It was told that the Siddhar didn’t identified himself and the name. ( as per Google map, somebody claims as Sivaranjani Siddar.. ? ). The Siddhar used to come in the dreams of the Devotees. His disciple’s Jeeva Samadhi is on the back side of the Shiva Temple on which a Shiva Linga was installed.
This Jeeva Samadhi temple was identified during the process of conducting Kumbhabhishekam to Sri Sakthipureeswarar Temple. A Sivanadiyar called Eswaran of Thenkasi told that there must be a small mandapa on the north east corner of the Shiva Temple. The mandapa will be in dilapidated condition. Just clean the area and light up Lamp. The rest will happen automatically.
It was told that those who are doing Dhyana / meditation at this temple gets different experiences and many miracles happened in their life. Also it was told that, the Siddhar has to call to his Jeeva Samadhi Temple and with out his call one cannot reach just like that.
Lingothbavar on an Avudayar, Nandhi, Rudra Ganapthy are installed in front of the Jeeva Samadhi Temple during June 2021.

HOW TO REACHThis Jeeva Samadhi temple is about 500 meters from Medavakkam to Ponmar main road and just back side of the Sri Sakthipureeswarar Shiva temple.Town busses from Tambaram 51T and T Nagar M51V & J51 are available to Ponmar.The temple is about 2.7 KM from Mambakkam, 9 KM from Medavakkam, 15 KM from Tambaram and 30 KM from Chennai Central.Nearest Railway station is Tambaram.
