The temple is believed to be of 100 to 200 years old. The Mandapam in front of Rajagopuram was built in 20th Century  with a contribution of  Thiruvalam Kandaswamy Chettiar and his wife. Their reliefs are found on the pillars of the mandapam facing Sri Subramanyar. The Dwajasthambam was installed in 2016. During 1938 NSC Bose Road was called as China Bazaar Road.
