The visit to this Ramaneshwara and Lakshmaneswara temples on the Kotrampalayam Street, Chinna Kanchipuram was a part of 2020 Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21^st February 2020. After Sri Vashisteswarar Temple’s Visit, our next destination was to this temple. The three hymns / sthalapurana written by 18^th Century Sri Sivagnana Swamikal from Kanchipuram related to Shiva Temples worshiped by Rama is reproduced as given below...

1643 இராமேச்சரம் - பரமாநந்த மண்டபம்

உருவெமன் கமலம் பூத்த உயர்சிவ கங்கைத் தென்பால்

திருவிரா மேச்ச ரத்துச் சிவபிரான் திருமுன் னாக

இருவினைப் பிறவிக் கஞ்சி எய்தினோர்க் குறுபே ரின்பம்

மருவுறும் பரமா நந்த மண்டபம் ஒன்று மாதோ  

1644 மண்டபம் இனைய மூன்றும் வைகைற எழுந்து நேசங்

கொண்டுளம் நினையப் பெற்றோர் உணர்வெலாங் கொள்ளை கொண்ட

பண்டைவல் வினையின் வீறும் பற்றிய மலங்கள் மூன்றும்

விண்டுபே ரின்ப வெள்ள வேலையில் திளைத்து வாழ்வார்

      வழிபடூஉக் கொடுவினை மாற்றித்

திரைபுன லயோத்திப் புகுந்தர சளித்தான்

      சேதுவில் சிறந்ததத் தலமே

Some of the salient features of this temple are....

The temple is facing east with three separate sannadhis for Sri Vinayagar,  Sri Ramaneshwarar and Sri Lakshmaneswarar. Shiva’s stucco image is on the top of the mandapam. All the three sannadhis are constructed in a row in the midst of Housing colony.

Both Shiva Lingas are 16 fluted surfaces Dhara Linga. ( not in the form of flat surfaces ), looks cute. Out of two Nandhis one Nandhi’s head is turned towards right. The temple is under renovation and preparing for the Kumbhabhishekam. It is believed that Both Shiva Lingas and Nandhis  belongs to 8^th to 9^th Century Pallava Period.

TEMPLE TIMINGS:

The temple is under renovation and orukala pooja will be conducted.

HOW TO REACH:

The temple is in Little Kanchipuram ( Chinna Kanchipuram ) about 2.1 KM from Kanchipuram Bus stand, 4.1 KM from Kanchipuram Railway Station, 31 KM from Arakkonam Railway Junction and 80 KM from Chennai Central Station.

Nearest Railway Station is Kanchipuram and Nearest Railway Junction is Arakkonam.
