LEGENDS
The legend associated with this temple is very much similar to Mangadu Amman. Once a cool place with green plants and trees, has become very hot and unbearable by the Human beings. Asalana  Siddhar with jada mudi, ( Sri Veerama Munivar..? ) came to this place and told the people that a swayambhu Amman is  in tapas inside the ant hill and due to that lot of heat is being generated. He further told that if any one receives that heat of Amman, then this place will become cool and normal. When nobody came forward to receive the heat, the Siddhar, did a tapas and received the heat of Amman. After tapas the Siddhar went in the well.

Before entering in to the well, the Siddhar asked the people to close the well after his entry and construct a temple for the Amman. When the people did as per the Siddhar’s instruction, the heat reduced to normal. Since Amman was in standstill position ( asalanam – அசலனம் ) without any movement, Amman is called as Asalathamman.

The Devotees  prays this Asalathamman for the immovable properties, to get a favourable reply / verdict from the court,  fo a strong Mangalya bhagyam, Child boon, to get abundant wealth, etc,.
