The visit to this Thiruloki temple was a part of Kumbakonam Heritage Walk organized by "Yaaooyaakay"- யாஊயாகே” and "Celebrate Kanchi" on 27th and 28th July 2019. In this walk 13 temples were covered, which includes 6 Padal Petra Shiva Temples. Will be postings the details of the temples which are not covered during my previous visits / Padal Petra Sthalangal visit. This temple Shiva was praised in Thiruvisaipa and Kasi Kalabagam.

Some of the important features of this temple are…
The temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram. Nandhi with Balipedam are in the mukamandapam and in the arthamandapam. The Sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum, antarala, arthamandapam and Mahamandapam. Ambal Sri Akilandeswari is in Maha mandapam facing east. Dwarabalakas are in the antarala entrance.
In the sanctum moolavar is small. In koshtam Dhakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai. Nulamba style sculptures of Rathi with Manmathan is in arthamandapam and Shiva with Parvati on Rishabam ( Rishabaroodar ) is in the outer prakaram ( It was told this two Nulamba sculptures are brought by Rajendran-I after defeating Nulambas).
In the outer prakaram, Sandikeswarar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniyar, Gajalakshmi, Thirikala Bhairavar, Pickshadanar, Chandran, Shaniswar and Suryan.
ARCHITECTURE:
The sanctum sanctorum is on a simple padma bandha adhisthana. A single tier Vesara vimana is over the prastharam. The prastharam is of kabotha style with nasi. The stucco images of Brahma and Vishnu are with their consorts on the Vimana.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple was built by Chozhas and latter expanded by Marahas. As per inscription this place was called as Thirilokya Mahadevi Chathurvedi mangalam, which was corrupted to the present name of Thiruloki. The temple has Varaguna Pandiyan, Rajendran-I, Rajarajan-II and Kulothunga-I inscriptions. As per Kulothunga-I inscription a land was donated to this temple ( previously donated by Varaguna Pandya ) for the celebration. Rajarajan-II, inscription speaks about taxing of Brahmadeyam, Pallisantham and Devathanam. Also a Siva Brahmanar received gold to burn a lamp in this temple.
The temple is under the control of HR & CE Department. A Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted in 2015 after a gap of 50 years.
TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs and 20.00 hrs.
HOW TO REACH:
The Thiruloki may be reached from Thirupananthal ( 6.6 KM), Thiruvalangadu ( 8.8 KM ), Kanjanoor (6.3 KM ) and Thiruvaduthurai (12 KM ).
On Thirupananthal to Aduthurai route after one KM take a left and Thiruloki is about 4 KM.
