SRI ALLALISWARAR TEMPLE, INGUR NEAR PERUNDURAI IN TAMIL NADU.

8th December 2018.
Till I entered in to this temple, I was not aware of that this temple was built by the Cheras  and latter contribution by the Pandiyas and Vijayanagaras. This temple  is on the way to Sri Thambiratti Amman Temple at Ingur.

Some of the important features of this temple are...
This Shiva temple is facing west with a 3 tier rajagopuram. Dwajasthambam, Nandhi and Palipedam are in the muka mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum consists of Sanctum, antarala, arthamandapam and Mukamandapam. Ambal Sri Vadivulla mangai is  in artha mandapam facing south. The arthamandapam was built during Vijayanagara Period. The Pillars has the reliefs of Shiva’s postures Like Pickshadanar, Rishabaroodar and the donar in worshiping postures. 

The out side level was raised up to sanctum  base  and three patta kumudha with inscriptions are only visible. Brick and mortar Vesara Vimana is on the  sanctum.  In koshta Vishnu Durgai, Brahma, Lingothbavar, Dhakshinamurthy and Narthana Ganapathy.

In the outer prakaram sannadhi for Suryan, Saraswathy, Valli Deivanai Subramaniyar, Agathiyar, Navagrahas, Bairavar, Saneeswarar, Sandikeswarar, Kannimoola Ganapathy, Kasi Viswanathar, Mahalakshmi and Chandran.

The place Ingur was called as Karjiravanam in purana,  Inthur, Inthaiyur and corrupted to the present name of Ingur. As per the legend while Devas doing thabas, Asuras came and gave troubles. To their pray Lord Shiva saved Devas from Asuras.  Hence people with troubles / problems used to pray lord Shiva and get relieved.

The Temple has the contributions from Cheras, Pandiyas and the Local king Saravana Kangeyan. The temple was renovated in 1957  and Kumbhabhishekam was performed. In addition to regular poojas, special poojas are also conducted like, Prathosham, No-moon day ( Amavasai ), Tamil New year, Aruthra Dharshan, Thirukarthikai, Thaipoosam, Mahasivarathri, Navarathri, Panguni Uthram.  On Adipooram day the sprouted green gram will be offered to childless ladies  to get  child birth after the pooja to Ambal

TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs and 17.30 hrs to 20.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH:
The temple is about 6.5 KM from Perundurai on Perundurai to Chennimalai bus route.
The nearest Railway station is Ingur, where the local trains will stop and about 1.5 KM. Erode railway station is about 27 KM.
