Sri Vibhutheeswarar Temple / Sri Sugantha Kunthalambal Sametha Sri Vibootheswarar Temple, Venmanambudur / வெண்மனம்புதூர், Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu

The visit to this Sri Vibhutheeswarar Temple at Vemanambudur, was a part of “Ashta Siddhi Temples” visit, located between Kosasthalaiyar and Koovam rivers, on the north side of Perambakkam. Apart from Shiva temples, on the way visited Perumal temples also.

Some of the salient features of this temple are....
The temple is facing east with an entrance from South side. Balipeedam and Rishabam are on the east side. Stucco image of Lord Shiva and Parvati are on the top of east side entrance. Moolavar is on a square avudayar. In Koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai.

In praharam Vinayagar, Anjaneyar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar, Ayyappan, Navagrahas. 
 

ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of sanctum Sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam and a mukha mandapam. The old temple was reconstructed during recent years on a upanam without following the temple architecture. An eka thala vesra vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu and Brahma are in the greeva koshtam. Ambal is in a separate sannidhi facing south, with a vesara vimanam.



HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the original temple was built during Pallava period and latter received contributions from Chozhas. Since the original temple was dilapidated and the same was reconstructed completely with brick during recent years.

As per the Annual report 1944-45, Sl nos 23-24, This village was gifted to this temple as Sarvamanyam by the Idangai community and tax on the gifted lands are exempted.

In another 8th Century inscription records the gift of Gold to this temple by Avaduuraiyan Bhuvanakadan ( Ashta Siddhi temples by Sai Kumar ).
Bukkan-I’s period ( 1344 – 1357 CE ) inscription records the gift of Villages as Sarvamanyam.

LEGENDS
This is one of the Ashta Siddhi Shiva temples ( 8 Shiva Temple ) located between Koovam and Kosasthalaiyar  rivers on the north side of Perambakkam in Tiruvallur District. It is believed that the Sage Agasthiya installed these 8 Shiva Lingas, worshiped and obtained ashta siddhis. The each Shiva temple is associated with one of the Ashta siddhis. மெலிந்து அங்கு இருந்திடும் வெல்ல ஒண்ணாதே.

With this siddhi, one can reduce the size of the body like cotton. By worshiping Sri Agastheeswarar now called as Vibhutheeswarar of this temple at Venmanambuthur ( a Tamil Name of Sanskrit name of Vibhutheeswaram ), one can obtain this Anima siddhi.

Apart from Regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on pradosham and Maha Shivaratri days.
