Soma yagna was performed for Somasimara Nayanar in this place and Lord Shiva also participated. The story goes like this.... When Sundarar came to this place he was not feeling well ( cold and Cough ) and Somasimara Nayanar, gave medicinal spinach – Thoothuvalai. Somasimara Nayanar express his wish of conducting a Soma yagna in which Lord Shiva wants to be participated. So he sought the help of Sundarar to bring Lord Shiva for the Yagna. Sundarar requested Lord Shiva to participate in the Somasimaran’s yagna. Lord Shiva readily accepted and came as hunter, ma Parvati as his wife carrying toddy pot on her head, Vinayagar, Murugan as Children and 4 vedas as dogs to yagna spot. When they entered, all the Andhanars left the place, thinking that untouchable people are entering. But Somasimaran Nayanar welcomed the guests and Vinayagar indicated who are they. Avirpagam /Prasad / yagna share also offered to Lord Shiva and Parvati. Finally Lora Shiva and Parvati gave darshan to Somasimara Nayanar and Sundarar.
