The Mallikarjuneswarar Temple is on the south west corner of the Sarva Theertha kulam. The 18^th Century saint Sri Sivagnana Swamikal, had written the sthalapurana of this temple, in Kanchipuram under Sarva Theertha padalam.

Some of the Salient features of this temple are...

This temple facing east with a three tier Rajagopuram. Balipedam and adhikara Nandhi are in the inner mandapa immediately after the north side entrance Rajagopura. Moolavar is in Sanctum. In koshtam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai. Vinayagar, Sri Valli Deva sena Subramaniyar, Bhairavar, Suryan, Navagrahas ( on the south side of Balipedam ) and Sandikeswarar are in the prakara. 

The temple consists of Sanctum sanctorum, arthamandapam and a mukha mandapam. The inner mandapa was supported with square and octoganal section pillars. A Two tier Nagara Vimana is on the sanctum sanctorum. The Sikaram is with Nasis on all the 4 sides. It is believed that the original temple was built during 7^th to 8^th Century Pallava period.

LEGEND:

It is believed that the Mahabharata Hero Arjuna established this temple and worshiped Lord Shiva.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS:

Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Mondays ( Somavaram ), Karthikai  and Mahashivaratri days.

This temple Sri Lakshmanaeswarar is on the south banks of Sarva Theetam ( Kulam ).  Both Sri Lakshmanaeswarar and Seetha Eswarar temple are opposite to each other. This Shiva temple was established and worshiped by Lakshmana.

The 18^th Century saint Sri Sivagnana Swamikal, had written the sthalapurana of this temple, in Kanchipuram under Sarva Theertha padalam.

The Temple is facing west. Moolavar is on a Padma peta. Balipdedam and Nadhi are in in front of the mukha mandapa.  Rishaba mandapa is with a vesara vimana. 

The Main temple Vimana sikara is of 8 sided Dravida sikaram with 8 Nasis. Stucco images of Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Lord Shiva are on the 1^st level griva koshta. In addition to this the images of Devas, Rishis and Kanniayars are also on the Vimana.

As per the historians the temple was built during 7^th to 8^th Century during Pallava period.

Some of the important details are....

The temple facing east, opposite to Sri Lakshmaneswarar Temple. Both temples are sharing the common entrance. Balipedam and Nandhi are in front of the mandapam. Moolavar is on a Lotus pedestal Avudayar. The Bas –relief of Seetha worshiping Lord Shiva is inner mandapa. In Koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu and Brahma.

In Prakaram Sandikeswarar and Naga Krishna. Vinayagar and Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniyar are in the Mukha mandapa.

The Temple consists of Sanctum sanctorum, Arthamandapam and Mahamandapam. An Ekathala vimana is over the sanctum sanctorum. It is believed that the original temple was built during 7^th to 8^th Century Pallava period.

LEGEND.

After Rama established and worshiped Lord Shiva, in front of Sri Ekambareswarar temple, Seetha also thought of establishing a Shiva Temple. Seetha established her Shiva Temple on the banks of Sarva Theertam Kulam and worshiped Lord Shiva. Hence Lord Shiva is called as Seethaeswarar.

The visit to the above Temples on the banks of Sarva Theertam  Kulam was as a part of 2020 Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21^st February 2020.This Gangadheeswarar temple is on the eastern  banks of Sarva Theertam Kulam.

This temple is on the southern side steps of Sarva Theertam (Kulam ). The 18^th Century saint Sri Sivagnana Swamikal, had written the sthalapurana of this temple, in Kanchipuram under Sarva Theertha padalam.

There is no separate temple  for this Shiva Linga. The Shiva Linga is installed on the south side steps of Sarva theertha Kulam under a small mandapam called Paramananda mandapa. It is believed that the original Paramanandha mandapa with Shiva Linga was built during 7^th to 8^th Century Pallava period.

LEGEND:

As per Sthalapurana  those who get up early morning and worships Lord Shiva of this Paramanda manda mandapam will get relieved from all the three karmas ஆணவம், கன்மம் & மயை, ie, one should not think he is only great and the happening & its after effects called Anavam,  The sins Sanjitham, Pirartham and Akaamiya, which follows from previous birth and Mayai, should not think that all are real.

The visit to the Sri Yogalingeswarar and Hanumantheeswarar Temples on the banks of Sarva Theertam  Kulam was as a part of 2020 Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21^st February 2020. These are the 12 Shiva temples found around the Sarva Theertam. Thanks to Babu Mano for providing the photographs.

The 18^th Century Sri Sivagnana Swamikal, who had written the sthalapurana of the temples around Sarva Theertam has not specifically written some of the temples.  The original Text in Tamil about the importance of sarva theertam goes like this...

1635 சருவ தீர்த்தப் பெருமை

      தந்தையைச் செகுத்த பாவம் தணந்தனன் பிரக லாதன்

      முந்தையோர்ச் செகுத்த பாவம் வீடணன் முழுதுந் தீர்ந்தான்

Some of the important details of these temples are...

Both temple are in a same complex with separate sannadhis on the eastern banks of Sarva Theertam Kulam. The entrance arch is on the south side. Hanuman stucco images are on the top of the arch.

The temples are small with sanctum sanctorum and a small vimana, built not to compile the agama. Navagrahas and Nagars are in the prakara. The Yogalingeswara temple is said to be old. It was told that Hanuman temple was not mentioned in Kanchipurana, this temple might have been built at a latter date, may be Vijayanagara period.

The opening time is un-predictable and also the temple in under the renovation.

The temple is about 500 meters from Kanchipuram bus Stand. 3 KM from Kanchipuram railway Station.

The visit to this Thavaleswarar Temple, on the north banks of Sarva theertha Kulam was as a part of 2020 Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21^st February 2020. After Iranyeswarar Temple on the west banks of Sarva theertham / Sarva Teertham Tank / Sarva Theertam Kulam visit, our next destination was to this temple.  This temple is also called as Lakulisham.

The 18^th Century Sri Sivagnana Swamikal had written the sthalapurana of this temple under Yogasariyar Padalam ( யோகாசாரியர் படலம் ) in his Kanchipuranam. The original Text in Tamil goes like this...

      ஒன்றருஞ் சுவேத லிங்க முதலில குளீசம் ஈறாத்

      துன்றிடு மிவற்றுள் மேலாச் சொலப்படும் இலகு ளசீசம்.

Some of the salient features of this temple are...

The temple is facing east with an entrance 3 tier Rajagopuram on the south side. Balipedam, Nandhi under a mandapam are in front of the Mukhamandapam. Somaskandar is on the backside wall of the moolavar. Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai are in the koshtam.

The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala arthamandapam and a mukha mandapam. A three tier nagara vimana  is over the adhisthanam with salas and karnakootas. The temple is believed to be built during 8th Century Pallava period with the Pallava icon of Somaskandar. 

The Annabhishekam with  maha deeparathana will be conducted on Ipasi month full moon day.

LEGEND:

As per Sthalapurana, from Svedan, Svedakethu, Svedalokithan, Svedasikan, Svedachchuvan, Thanthubi  to Lakulishan and the rest of Rudras wishes to become Yogasariyas by doing severe penance at Kailash. Satisfied their penance, Lord Shiva asked them to go to Kanchipuram, establish Shiva temples on their names and worship to attain Yagasariyas. Except few the rest of the temples are missing now.
