Sri Vaitheeshwarar Temple /Sri Vada Vaitheeswaran Temple, ஸ்ரீ வட வைத்தீஸ்வரன் கோயில், Sastrapakkam, Appur RF, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Vaitheeswarar Temple at Sastrapakkam in Chengalpattu District,  was made on 05th October 2022, along with Archaeological Survey Of India ( ASI ) Excavation sites at Vadakkupattu  in Chengalpattu District. This temple is also called as Vada Vaitheeswarar Temple.

Some of the salient features of this temple are...
The temple is facing east with an entrance arch on the south Side. Stucco images of Vinayagar on his Vahana, Sri Shiva with Parvati on Rishabam as Rishaba roodar and Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniyar on Peacock vahana.  Balipeedam, and Rishabam are in the mukha mandapam. Stucco Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of sanctum sanctorum. Moolavar is in sanctum sanctorum. Vinayagar and Murugan are at the entrance of ardha mandapam. In Koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai.

In Praharam Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi, A Shiva Lingam with Ambal. An Amman, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniyar, Anjaneyar,  Chandikeswarar, Bairavar, Ambal Thayyal Nayagi is in a separate temple in the mandapam facing south.

ARCHITECTURE
The complete temple was constructed with bricks and an eka tala nagara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. The temple consists of Sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam and mukha mandapam.




HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was told that the temple may be 150 to 200 years old and reconstructed in 2017. Old temple’s stones are dumped in front of the temple.

16  Pillar maha mandapam, Lakshmi Ganapathi Sannidhi, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar sannidhi, Water tank, Entrance arch stucco images was constructed under the donation of Bhakya Prabha Promoters and Builders, on 07th March 2016. Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi, Sri Murugar and Bairavar sannidhis are constructed by Sakthi K Balaji Sthapathi, Maraimalainagar ( +91 9840284570 ).

This Vada Vaitheeswarar Temple maha kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 02nd February 2017.
    


LEGENDS
As per the legend, this temple is called as vada Vaitheeswarar, since Shiva and Parvati blesses their devotees similar to Vaitheeswaran temple near Sirkazhi.

It is believed that, the oil supplied in the temple as prasad will cure skin ailments, boils, pimples and scars. Also it is believed that Murugan obtained the Vel / spear to kill Soorapadman from Ambal Thaiyal Nayagi.

People pray Lord Shiva and Ambal Thaiyal Nayagi  for mental peace, relief, Hardships, Employment opportunities, progress in trade, progress in profession, promotions, wedding, Child boons and relief from the adverse planet aspects. Devotees also place their Horoscope in front of moolavar to get better fortune

It is believed that Siddhars also worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Shiva was called as Mruthunjayeswarar  and Ambal was called as Bhavaroganivarani. Hence Mruthunjeya homam will be performed to get rid of ailments at this temple.

Apart from regular poojas Special poojas are conducted on Fridays, Pournami, Amavasya, Pradosham,Maha Shivaratri, etc,.

The temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
