Sri Mahisasuramardini, Sri Parasathamman Temple / Sri Parasaathamman /Sri Parasiammal, Thaiyur, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

It was  planned to visit 4 Shiva Temples and an Amman temple of Thaiyur, near Kelambakkam  on 21st July 2021, of which Azhakeeswarar temple was closed during my Visit. This place was called as “Thaikaja Muruganur” ( Thaikajam – means Sand stone in Sanskrit ), since  Lord Muruga was made of Sand Stone at Sri Murugeeswarar Temple, which has got corrupted to the present name of Thaiyur.  This Parasathamman temple is on the Thaiyur lake bund close to Sri Jalakandeswarar Temple.

Moolavar
: Sri Parasathamman / Sri Parasaathamman,
                Sri Parasiammal.

Some of the salient features of this temple are…..
The Moolavar Sri Parasathamman is inside a Temporary shed. There are 7 Murugan like idols installed in a row, Saptakannis and a Stucco Muneeswarar  from this temple. Except Parasathamman the rest are in open to Sky.

The Mahisasuramardini is made of Stucco, about 30 feet high.  She is with 12 hands holding Thirisoolam, Chakra, Mazhu, Bow, Arrow, Snake, Sword, bent Knife, Conch, Asura’s head, Bowl and a Shield. Mahisasuramardini is looking ferocious, with protruding teeth and tongue. Wears a Jwala maguda and Snake kundalas are on the ears.
